Day 16

Sorry for taking so long to write I have been busy doing papers, work and sleeping. :) Um so Wednesday and Thursday were my days off so I pretty much slept all day. Wednesday I did go to Orchard which is a shopping center and found a movie theatre and billiards. Rachel and I spent about two hours people watching which was fun because we found out that men like to have purses bigger than their girlfriends and they also wear fanny packs around their shoulders like a messenger bag. Our thought is why there is no crime here of people stealing bags so why do you need to carry a bag rather than just putting it in your pocket. I also saw someone fit an Ipad I believe in their front pocket. We also saw so many white people it was as if we were home so at least we found a place to go when we get homesick. Thursday I slept till about three and met up with my coworkers at a local grocery store to get food for the BBQ. There was no brisket or hamburgers or hot dogs at this BBQ if you guys were all thinking about that. Instead we had satay, Korean pork, Taiwan Sausage, regular sausage, steak (rachel and I were thrilled about this), mushrooms wrapped in bacon, chips, and watermelon. The weird thing Rachel and I notice was the women were at the grill while the men were watching/ eating the food that was ready. Out here in most families the women will also go to work while the men take care of the children especially in the Philippines. The BBQ was fun though I got to try many foods I would not have tried on my own probably and I was able to enjoy nice breezy weather on the East Coast beach. Although there were only oil ships in the water it was still pretty and it is a place where locals and others go to rent bikes or roller blade around the park. Um Friday was a busy day I was in charge of the buffet again and it was crowded but tonight it was twice as busy. I ended up making like 30 molten lava cakes and I had to get help because I needed like eight arms to get everything done and ready for the guests. I really like it here. The people are amazing! I know this is kinda short I will add more tomorrow maybe I have to be up in two hours to get ready to go to breakfast/zoo and then work from 2-11 but Monday is my day off so that will be nice maybe I'll get myself up to go to the Botanical Gardens.
